Oh wow. I'm not so much of a sound guy, myself.
Btw, the last one had a humble Dv12 in tow for a reason or another. They arent multi-unit compatible, so the Dv12 was most likely just idling.

Anyway, Dr16 with its 1.5 kW (:´D ) is widely know as the 'iso vaalee' - 'big pale'. Also 'iso vaikee' - 'big troublesome'. They suffered from constant electrical problems that ultimately were solved only in their first round/midlife workshop restorations. After that they acquired the tendency to catch on fire. The first four already got discarded because they had non standard designs and parts, 3 more due various accidents. The rest are on their last legs as Dr19 is coming soon. They serve the last large unelectrified parts around Joensuu and Tornio Valley.

Dr19 should have come this year but no news yet.

It seems we seem to have standardized to about 3000-4000kW (almost as much as 1 American locmotive :Dd) of power, per train. Meaning 3x Dv12s, 2x Dr16, 2x Sr1, 2x Sr2 etc combinations. Dr16s could do triplet for 4.5 kW but that's seldomly used, well there are only 17 left so that may be a limithg factor. That's because we very much have our network only accepting 1.1 km (915 m really) long max trains, and some places only 850 or 750 m long.

That branch is a precarious one too. Naantali harbor has only had occasional grain shipments lately. Russian grain, that was.

Here you can see probably that 'tekari' ("denture" :D) leaving Turku next tuesday to visit Naantali again to then go Hangonsaari, passing the daily VR freigt in Mynämäki. That graphical timetable is a bit messy, in 4 parts and "Turku main" and "Turku freight" are smudged over each other.

"Not even bad." "Hehe." "We had quite a lot of speed." "Two vehicle lenght it took." "Yeah, it's not instant." "Our mass became clear."
"Walking on our way is not advisable, not in this speed. A person we would have run over, would be roughtly at the door 4."

3:50 "The sandwiches have spread all over." "An apple is taking a sprint!" "A what?" "Rolling around!" "Oh, must be because of the quick brake." "I'll go gather them. Oof." "Good man." "They are on my way, don't want to squich them either." "Terrible!" "Let's not do any more emergency braking." "This was gentle enough, right?"

12:05: "Heh, he just waved at the drunk." "Sure, they are human too!" "15, now." "But use the horn if he still sits there when we come back."

23:44: "Stop rampaging, put your helmet on!"

31:34: "No bunnies yet." "Nope, a little darker and they'll be here, when we come back." "Aye."

36:46: "I'm so used to slowing down to switches, feels weird when you don't have to." "I know, right."

49:01: "So the switch will be turning to the left?" "Yes, the terminal is still within the same juridiction so no need to use the turner..." (3rd voice) "Animalistic noises!" "...And because it goes to the left, it's 15, straight is 20."

50:16: (distant shouting) "lälälälä :D" "...oh water (?), oh you don't? And now you do need!"

This may or may not be a thing unique to the United States of America: garbage trains. Not junk trains as in the trains that haul "junk" commodities like grain, scrap metal or whatever but actual garbage. I've sure never heard of them in Canada or Europe where I've lived, but I learned about these in the USA and think it's fascinating.

The tl;dr is that they haul garbage to states that have space for it. For example New York City exports a ton of garbage out of the state just so they can get rid of it. Others take it to landfills that bury it like any old garbage with the goal of trapping methane gases and utilizing it for power generation. The cars used to transport it are usually the same specification of intermodal shipping containers which is ISO 668, so they fit into the typical well car that intermodal trains use although they are usually distinct and easy to tell apart.

Anyway here's a video of some trash trains for you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KuJ9lOqPlH0

Certainly exists in the UK and used to exist in many european nations too. The UK used open mineral hoppers for a while, then moved to containerized (though not ISO standard at first) waste.

Fun fact - since container trains are called "Freightliners" in the UK, and trashcans are called "bins" - these trains are "Binliners", which is also what they call trash bags.

Trash by train seems like a good idea to me, but you can tell (by the smell) when one goes by.

All there is publicly available is marketing bilge like this with almost zero real information. None of the journals seem to have made any journalism on it yet. It's quite clearly an initiative by the existing manufacturers of Scharfenberg couplers to pass them as something also suitable for freight.

Then again, there isn't anything truly appealing coming from the c-AKv front either, if this is what is availeble, this will be chosen.

Here's a short video of an old steam train in China. In usual Chinese fashion, it looks like they don't really care about it, so long as it works. I find that to be such a weird attitude to take especially considering their modern and contemporary Communist history. I suspect there will be so much tangible, historical stuff like this lost because it isn't seen as having value. This steam train still works so they'll use it until it doesn't, then replace it. Nobody will talk or write about those old days when steam trains hauled bricks...

Okay, some might, but it sure isn't going to have that big of an impact upon Chinese culture, which is one reason why China always lags behind: they don't understand the value in soft power like this...preserving heritage and history and embracing what it did in the point in time that it did to build the nation. Sadly, this is just one of countless still working steam train systems in the country you never really hear about any will likely never leave much of an impact outside of niche cliques of people.
