I think now is a good time to remind everyone that the 1chan helpline can be texted 24/7 when issues arise here.

We recently had an issue with spam/porn being posted on the front page. Whoever posted it also managed to cause issues with our config preventing anyone else from posting or logging in. While it wasn't a big issue to fix, I was unaware of what had happened until needing to fix it.

If you see any issues on 1chan please report them by texting (512) 953-3619

For those of us not on the NANP, do you have an alternative that won't cost us shitloads?

Our user base is overwhelmingly North American. I had considered creating an email address for reports as well.

It's not quite as easy as SMS, but not terrible. Any thoughts?

>do you have an alternative that won't cost us shitloads

How does that "costing shitloads" even work? For the shits and giggles I tried to add +1 to the number and it claims it went through. Was it in reality silently dropped or is the 1chan bat phone now flashing euro signs and requesting extra compensation for receiving my 30 bytes worth of disco references and depreciation of your work?

For most operators, international SMS is not included in your plan. Since the EU decided that certain cross-border operations has to be treated as domestic, UK operators have basically decided to gouge the fuck out of everything else, so calls and texts to some non-EU states are ridiculously expensive.

Where you asking me to fix the catalog?

yeah, and sorry about that.

But wowzors, I fully expected that the +1 512 exchange would have dropped that message on the floor on grounds of your American plan not allowing the reception of overseas SMS. That's what my operator warned on their site and what I wanted to test. Because there's also that issue with the foreign SMS: even if you can send and are charged overseas fee there's no guarantee on delivery.

No worries! I figured it was you.

Yeah it came through just fine. I have family overseas and have no issue with sending SMS to and from them. Although for the sake of cost we use alternatives most of the time.
