Hello fellows, I'm not dead. I took a little walk through a wooded area in town that butts up to the side of a yard, and I think I found a squatters/rail rider campsite.
To try and keep it in order I'll show the pictures as I took them from the yard back to the opening.

Looking back up the yard, you can just make out the main line.

Where a small bit of the clearing runs up to the yard. Curvature gives you some relative shielding from the yardmaster's tower.

Wider shot of the clearing, between this and the campsite is a couple fallen trees that block the view nicely

Campfire. I wonder if Dirtykid or any of his group ever stopped here.

DK if you're reading this, I know where this place is so if you're in the area and need something, I got you fam.

Additionally, this place has been extensively used in the past for tire dumps.

A house used to sit here, yet all that's left is some trash and the foundation. That's why this clearing is still here.

How it looks from the road, a small, one lane on each side road, low amounts of traffic normally. Totally inconspicuous, you wouldn't even know the campsite was there, there's even too many trees to see smoke from the fire I would imagine.

The whole reason why I was even in this area. One lane wooden bridge over the main line collapsed recently after a train struck it. I don't know anything else about the situation, NS has been pretty tight lipped about it except that the bridge is owned by them and they've yet to decide what to do about it.

Remember how I said normally low traffic? Well now it's no traffic. This road doesn't really go anywhere for several miles, it's more of just a scenic route into the county. Only a few residencies on the road, none near here. Would be perfect for train hoppers right now.

Mixed freight came through while I was photographing

My birthday was recently, on the day I was out taking these pictures in fact. I picked something up for myself I think you guys will enjoy but I'll save that for another thread.

Happy Belated Birthday!

I also wonder what they will do about the bridge.. Does it provide any real access? Or is it just an alternate route?

Thanks man!
At the other end of the road is a factory for Intertape Polymer, which is serviced by an industrial spur that comes out of the back of that yard, but other than being a faster route to and fro that factory, and that part of the county that it's in, the road doesn't really service anything. You actually have to go outside the city limits to get back to that road which takes you back into the city limits about a mile from that factory.

Did you find any dead bodies?
